I am working in SoHo today, and on my lunch break, I came across a set of paintings called "Harold's End" by Cherry Hood (you can see the paintings on her website, but I couldn't link directly to the right page). I don't know if you can tell how great these are from the website; the thing is that each painting is AS TALL AS ME. Some areas are incredibly detailed and others are these almost abstract washes of big drippy translucent watercolor. I couldn't stop looking at the one called Gotti.
Oh yes, the way she paints lips is unbelievable, and you can see how the highlights in the eyes are broken up by the shadows of eyelashes.

Do you think her name is really Cherry Hood?
